Life Under a Purple Cloud

Healing the Eastern Way

109 notes

Brandon Marshall, wide receiver for the Chicago Bears who was diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder, wore neon green shoes during a game on October 10th to commemorate Mental Health Awareness week while the rest of the league was promoting Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Although he was fined by the NFL for $10,500, he vowed to match that amount to donate to charity.
"Football is my platform not my purpose. This fine is nothing compared to the conversation started & awareness raised."
'Atta boy, Marshall.
Although October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, I think it’s the right thing to do to commemorate Mental Health Awareness Week as well… as mental health is still unfairly surrounded by stigma.

I truly admire those who use their high profiled roles as an avenue to send a positive message to society.
